Paddle to the pub through Chichester Harbour
Combine a scenic paddle through Chichester Harbour with a well-earned stop at the Crown and Anchor pub in Dell Quay. This leisurely round trip from Itchenor is the perfect blend of gentle adventure and reward — nature, fresh air and a cold drink waiting at the halfway point.
One of our most popular tours and it's easy to see why. Great for groups, couples, or anyone who thinks the best adventures involve a trip to the pub!
The best pub trip you'll ever have
We launch from Itchenor and head north through the harbour, following a route that takes us past moored yachts and along the treeline of the eastern shore. The paddle to Dell Quay takes about forty-five minutes at a relaxed pace - enough time to find your rhythm, take in the scenery and wonder why you don't do this more often.
As Dell Quay comes into view, the Crown and Anchor sits right on the waterfront with views back across the harbour. We pull the kayaks up on the shore and you've got time to grab a drink, a bite to eat, or just sit on the wall and watch the world go by. There's something about arriving at a pub by kayak that makes the first sip taste significantly better than driving there ever could.
The return paddle takes a slightly different line, depending on the tide. If conditions allow, we'll explore some of the quieter creeks on the way back - narrow channels where the birdlife is at its best and the water is glass-calm. By the time we reach Itchenor, you'll have covered around six kilometres, visited a cracking pub and had an afternoon that's impossible to have a bad time on.
