Our Story
Discover who we are at Fluid Adventures - a passionate team of paddlers dedicated to creating unforgettable kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding experiences across the South Coast.
Our Story
Fluid Adventures started the way the best ideas do - two mates, a car loaded with kayaks and three weeks in Scotland with no particular plan. White water by day, wild camping by night, rum by the fire and meals of questionable quality cooked on a gas stove. Pure dirtbagging.
Phil had worked in the outdoor industry since he was sixteen, taken a brief detour into what he calls "actual work" and quickly realised that offices and spreadsheets weren't going to stick. Somewhere on that Scottish trip, between a river in Aberdeenshire and a campfire in Glen Coe, the idea for Fluid Adventures took shape. A couple of months later, in 2012, the business was born.
Since then, Fluid Adventures has grown from two friends with a van into an established paddlesport business based at Northshore Boatyard in Itchenor, on the shores of Chichester Harbour. We run guided tours, courses, multi-day expeditions and kayak and paddleboard hire from two locations - Chichester Harbour and the River Arun at Pulborough.
The team changes with the seasons. Through the winter it's Phil and Rebekah, planning the year ahead and keeping things ticking over. Come summer, we grow - a core team of regulars who know the harbour inside out, plus trusted freelance coaches who share our love of getting people on the water safely and memorably.
We've tried a lot of things over the years. Some worked brilliantly. Some didn't. That's the nature of building something real. It's how we've run this business from the start: adapt, learn, keep paddling.
Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced paddler looking for your next trip, you'll find a warm welcome, expert guidance and genuinely good times on the water. That's the whole point.
