Hayling Island Circumnavigation (Sea Kayak)

Spend a day completing a circumnavigation of Hayling Island in a Sea Kayak. See the wildlife, ride the tides, and enjoy the views. For this trip we will depart from the south east corner of Hayling Island, and paddle around the whole Island before arriving back at our launch point.

This trip is cleverly planned so we will have the tide behind us for the whole day, making the fairly long journey a lot easier! On the way around the Island we will stop for a rest at the top, either visiting the Ship Inn, or having a picnic on the shore.

The trip is very much a mixture of relaxed paddling with the tide pushing you along, a pleasant bit of cruising in inland harbour waters, and there's also the opportunity to play in some waves as we paddle along the sea front of Hayling Island. We may also be lucky enough to see the seals as we cruise through Chichester Harbour - there is a fair size seal population on our route and we are frequently lucky enough to get up close to them.

This trip is quite possibly our directors favourite local trip, and he often pops out of the office on a nice day. He frequently completes this trip in under 3 hours with a good tide and solid paddling speed.

Pre-requisites:

Theres no need to be an expert to come on this trip but we recommend having solid 2 star skills, being able to keep your boat under control in winds of up to force 3. You also need to be prepared to sit in a kayak for a few hours, and keep paddling as we need to ensure we keep the tide behind and helping us.
