Paddleboarding & SUP
Hire a paddleboard or take a SUP course with Fluid Adventures on the River Arun at Pulborough. All equipment included.
Stand Up Paddleboarding on the South Coast
Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is one of the fastest-growing watersports in the UK, and for good reason. It is easy to pick up, gives you an incredible full-body workout, and lets you explore the water from a completely different perspective.
We offer paddleboard hire on the River Arun at Pulborough, plus a dedicated SUP course for those who want to learn proper technique. Whether you have paddleboarded before or have never set foot on a board, we have something for you.
Where Can I Paddleboard?
River Arun (Pulborough)
Our home for paddleboarding. A peaceful freshwater river winding through the South Downs, with flat water and gentle currents that make it ideal for beginners and anyone who prefers a calmer paddle. SUPs, kayaks and canoes all available.

Chichester Harbour (Itchenor)
Sheltered tidal waters in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, rich in wildlife including the resident seal colony. Our harbour base is set up for kayak hire and guided tours — we don't offer paddleboard hire here, but it's a beautiful spot to explore on the water.
SUP Courses
Our Introduction to Paddleboarding course covers everything you need to get confident on a board: stance, balance, different paddle strokes, turning, stopping, and what to do if you fall off (spoiler: you just climb back on). Suitable for complete beginners and those who want to refine their technique.
Sessions run on the River Arun at Pulborough throughout the season. All equipment provided including board, paddle, wetsuit and buoyancy aid.
Mega SUP
Looking for something different? Our Mega SUP fits up to 8 people on one giant board. It is a brilliant team activity for groups, families, birthday parties, or just a laugh with friends. Available at Pulborough.
Do I need experience to hire a paddleboard?
No. Paddleboarding is one of the easiest watersports to pick up. We give you a full safety briefing before you head out, covering how to stand, paddle, and get back on if you fall off. Most people are up and paddling within minutes.
What is included in a paddleboard hire?
Everything you need: a paddleboard, paddle, buoyancy aid, and a full safety briefing before you set off. Our team will talk you through the launch, the route and conditions on the day.
Is paddleboarding harder than kayaking?
They are different rather than harder or easier. Paddleboarding requires more balance but is very intuitive. Kayaking is more stable (you are sitting down) but uses different muscles. If you are unsure, try both! Many of our customers hire a kayak one visit and a paddleboard the next.
Can I paddleboard in winter?
Yes, we offer paddleboard hire year-round. In winter you will want a wetsuit or drysuit to stay warm. The river is often at its most beautiful in the quieter winter months, with fewer people about and excellent birdwatching.
