The Ardeche, in the South of France, is an awe-inspiring place to paddle. With the river changing in character throughout, including wide open stretches, simple rapids, and a deep gorge which is quite simply gorge-ous.
The Ardeche is an awe-inspiring place to paddle. With the river changing in character throughout, including wide open stretches, simple rapids, and a deep gorge which is quite simply gorge-ous.
During this trip we will travel down the Ardeche, using campsites with decent facilities (and often restaurants on site), we will transport your luggage each day, so you can paddle with a light boat, and without fear of things getting wet. We will also spend one night at a bivouac site within the Ardeche Gorge, this can be an amazing night under the stars with very little light pollution.
This trip is suitable for paddlers of around a 2 star/3 star standard. We can provide training throughout this trip for those working towards their BC 3 Star Open Canoe award, or BC Canoe Leader award.
What do we include in this trip?
- 6 nights of self-catering accommodation (mixture of camping and chalet based)
- 5 days of guided canoeing
- All transport once on the trip
- Boats/paddles & paddling kit (We also may be able to transport yours to the Ardeche if you have your own)
- Airport/train station shuttles can be arranged
Please note, we do not provide food on this trip. There are restaurants on most of the campsites, but we will need to cook on stoves one night when we are deep in the Ardeche Gorge. We will provide the cooking equipment for this night (stoves, pots, pans, plates, cutlery, etc).
