When you have a basic knowledge of paddling, this is the ideal next step for you. On this two day course we will explore the world of kayaking and canoeing in a greater depth, with the aim of you looking slick in a boat after the course.
In this course we will follow the National Governing Body syllabus, adding as much depth to every skill and giving you the full benefit of our knowledge. We will use a range of craft, and delivery styles throughout this course to ensure it is both fun, and informative, plus leave you wanting to go paddling more!
The aim of this course, from British Canoeing is:
“Successful performance at this level indicates that the paddler can use fundamental paddlesport skills on flat water to control movement of both canoes and kayaks, and have an understanding of how the paddle, boat, and water interact.”
With this being a course endorsed by British Canoeing, there are various resources available online, which you are encouraged to read prior to the course. Please note that we will cover both the training and assessment criteria on this course, if you’re not at a standard to complete the assessment, we will invite you back free of charge to complete further training to reach certification standard.
We highly recommend combining this course with a couple of other courses to have a 4 day block of coaching, these are our:
:: 2 Star Plus – on this we take the skills covered in 2 star and apply them into a more dynamic environment, this allows for skill consolidation as well as skill improvement. 1 day normally £60, when booked at the same time as the 2 star it’s reduced to £48.
:: BC Foundation Safety and Rescue Training – a day course dedicated to rescues, and safety while afloat. An absolute must to keep you, and anyone else you paddle with safe. Normally £50, reduced to £40 if booked at same time as your 2 star.
BC 1 Star Skills (or basic paddling ability i.e not a complete novice). Plus comfortable with being in/around water.
